WOLF WALK 2013  SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12
STOP THE SPORT HUNT ON MINNESOTA'S WOLVES

Duluth, Minnesota – The Northwoods Wolf Alliance, a grassroots coalition of Anishinaabeg people and their allies working to protect ma'iingan (wolf), particularly in Anishinaabe Akiing (Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan), expects several hundred people to rally and march in downtown Duluth for WOLF WALK 2013. The group’s message is simple: STOP THE HUNT planned to begin Nov 9 on Minnesota’s wolves

 Wolf Walk Schedule:


2:00 pm GATHERING - at the Civic Center Plaza, 411 West 1st  Street, Duluth, to set up information tables, networks and to assemble.

3:00 pm RALLY -  Speakers: Robert DesJarlait, Red Lake elder and Director of Protect Our Manoomin, Reyna Crow of Northwoods Wolf Alliance and Idle No More Duluth, Skip Sandman, candidate for Duluth City Council, Howard Goldman of the Humane Society of the United States, Barry Babcock, an environmental activist and deer hunter who has long lived on the Leech Lake Reservation, Melissa Smith of Friends of the Wisconsin Wolf, and Bob Shimek, another Red Lake elder and long time advocate for ma'iingan.

4:00 pm WOLF WALK -  begins from the Civic Center in Duluth! We travel the same route as 2012 to the Ma'iingan Corner at Lake and Superior Street, then on to Canal Park, on the shore of Gitchigami for a Round Dance. This is a friendship dance and everyone is welcome to join in. Bring your hand drum and walk rain or shine.

5:30 pm FEAST AND HAND DRUM CONTEST- We will meet at the Central Hillside Community Center, 12 East 4th Street,  Duluth, where we will hold a feast, open microphone, and a hand drum contest. All who support the end of recreational wolf hunting in Minnesota are welcome.
